Malaysia LNG Dua Chooses Dow UCARSOL™ AP 814 Solvent for CO₂ Removal

The Dow Chemical Company today announced that Malaysia LNG Dua has chosen UCARSOL™ AP 814 solvent for CO₂ removal in Train 5 at its liquefied natural gas facility in the PETRONAS LNG Complex, in Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia, on a trial basis.

MLNG, and other customers in Asia, benefit from Dow's local manufacturing capability provided by OPTIMAL, an affiliate of Dow and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), Malaysia's state-owned oil corporation.

UCARSOL AP 814 solvent is specifically designed for CO₂ removal and natural and synthesis gas processing and is effective in both sweet and sour gas streams. Low heats of reaction, combined with the ability to remove both CO₂ and H₂S, allow the gas processor to conform to current environmental regulations concerning sulfur emissions, while meeting product gas BTU specifications. UCARSOL AP 814 solvent is particularly useful for processing feed gas with high amounts of carbon dioxide. It performs well in crygenic applications with low CO₂ product gas specifications.
